Magazine Evaluation
This is my overall evaluation for my music magazine, which I named ‘Candy!’ I’ve published ‘Candy!’ as a girly music magazine, focusing on the pop side of music; also the magazine includes fashion, music and celeb gossip. I have aimed this magazine for girls aged 12-16, so basically the teenage years and for girls.
To attract teenage girls, I used bring colours and very much teenage slang, also I made it quite cheesy and fun, so it would humour the consumer. Throughout the magazine I used the same theme of a pink candy colour; this would help the consumer to recognise the label of the magazine and therefore would be more likely to recognise the colour and buy it again and again.

The front cover of the magazine has a black and white image of the ‘teenage sensation, Jessie Howard’ I used black and white to contrast with the colours present within the title. On top of the image I used colourful circles, to stand out to the consumer and I placed a contrasting colour on top of the circle stating different articles within the magazine, this would once again make the consumer buy this magazine rather than any other girly teenage pop magazine. As well as using colourful circles, I highlighted the main story which was ‘Jessie Howard’ in a bright pink colour with white writing, to contrast, I used this colour because pink is stereotypically linked with girls and as this magazine is advertised for girls, I thought it would go perfectly. Throughout the magazine I used a font which was quirky and girly; this again represents the theme throughout the magazine and adds to the grisliness shown.
I used other pictures on the front cover of people at concerts, I chose ones which I had taken myself, and pictures what made festivals look fun and entertaining, also I used pictures of girls in a slightly older generation than teenagers, I did this so the target audience can look up to the pictures of these girls and want to do what they are doing, this may want them to buy this magazine even more.

My double page spread is once again very simple and is highlighted in the unique ‘Candy’ colour; I mixed it with black to make the highlighted writing stand out. I put the interviewers questions in pink as this will stand out to the reader and as they glance over they will read it slightly and want to read ‘Jessie’s’ answer to this question, and then the reader will hopefully read onwards and love it. I used a pull out quote as the title to attract the reader as it gives the reader an inside into ‘Jessie’s’ life and likes within his life. I used four pictures on the pages as teenagers are more into pictures rather than reading essay interviews. Once again the language used is very much imbedded with slang to appeal to the target audience; also the interview involves stories about:
·        About a new album
·        Upcoming concerts
·        His Fashion icons
·         His new girlfriend
I chose these four things to write about as they appeal to the target audience and they will interest the reader, also I put on the front cover that the interview covers these four points these will make the magazine stand out as it is ‘Exclusive!’
